ANSWER: If the donor would like these as a restricted donation then it is ok to take these donations for that purpose. We haven’t heard any concerns from PTAs about taking restricted donations. However, it is important to make sure that the donation fits their mission and not to accept any donations that do not align with the PTAs budgeted projects.
Another thing to consider is if the project does not happen, can the funds be moved for another purpose or project? That is where using the restricted donation form from Money Matters would help (with a few changes to fit the situation). It provides an option if the project does not happen or if the PTA has reached its goal and there is money left over.
